Hi folks! I'm no longer a virgin to spilling a drink in my '00 conv clk. And of course, it had to be a LARGE drink...ugh... Now my baby is having trouble coming out of Park and when I'm finally out of Park, it has trouble moving into other gears. I noticed that now the dash doesn't show what gear I'm in. When I test drove it, I can tell I'm in 3rd gear (tiptronic) vs. Drive and it won't switch out. HELP!!! Is there something I can do to clean things up or is this going to be a $$huge$$ horrible mistake that will cost me an arm, a leg and then some? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
i left my sunroof open one time and the next morning i was like hey why are there puddles in my seats !!! I had the same problems your having and had to have it towed to the mechanic...anyways it cost me a little over 1,500. If you fried the control module that I fried than it's gonna cost about the same...i think the part alone was 900-1,000.
sorry dude
it happened to my clk 320 what i did as a last resort was i took out the shift console and sprayed it down with plan tab water. Right afterward i took my air compressor and sprayed it dry, hook it back up and everything was back to normal. I left the car to dry for two days out in the sun but that didn't fix the problem so i had to revert to the last resort method. Sure hope it works for you because i call MB and they said the parts alone cost 790 US dollars ouch!!!!
pry the rectangular black plastic trim piece straight up from around the shift lever and take it to upholstery shop or seamstress and have a soft leather boot made. fashion the boot so you can glue (barge contact cement) it to the underside of the trim piece, remove the knob, slip the boot over the lever and press the trim piece back in place. you don't need to see what gear you are in and really, who uses the W/S button?
I did the same thing!!!! The cup holder is such a piece of shit!!!!!! Your looking around $1000 for the repair. How can Benz make such a beautiful car with such a shitty cup holder?

all the W Mode does for my car is allow it to spin circles in the snow with second gear and low rpm shifts !!! lol I want to scratch off W and put another S for Stupid.
