Sorry to hear about the spillage.

My Mates know the score when getting into my car....NO drinks, NO food, NO newspapers (ink gets on hand then on my leathers & trim!), NO smoking, NO dirty shoes, NO bullshit clothing that has anything sharp on 'em!

Follow these rules and your guaranteed to piss your mates off but you'll have a safe looking car!

TCM Part Number

I have the same problem...a wet shift control module. Does anyone have a part number? I have a year 2000 CLK320.

The link suggested, http://www.err0neous.org/mbz/w208.pdf , does not have the part listed.

Also, does anyone have suggestions on where to get a refurbished part?

same old problem...

left the windows open just a crack and the sr tilted open for ventilation and WHAMO, the biggest freakin cyclone came out of nowhere. Every surface on the inside of the car was wet. Wiped it down with a t-shirt and tried starting...nothing. Dead as a Kennedy. After a while I could turn the key, then the engine, then it started...all the while I'm freakin out. It wouldn't go into gear (sound familiar?) and I got Starmark on the phone. After a few minutes I got the "Have you got a pen handy..." thing and did the manual shift thing. At first it wouldn't upshift but after a few hours it was driving OK, not great but OK. Now here is the stupidest thing I did, AS A PRECAUTION I TOOK IT TO CROWN MB. They kept it for a couple of days, called me and said it needed a new shifter control thing...$1500! What about that Starmark CPO warranty I bought? Oh, this isn't covered because you spilled something in the console. Hello! There's a cup holder there...and BTW I didn't spill anything, God did. So this goes back and forth for a while because I love being treated like shit by MB service folks. Finally I asked if the tech had any problem driving it into the garage. Well, no. Then have him drive it out, park it and I'll be right in to pick it up. That was the last, LAST time I took it to Crown MB in B'ham, AL. Shitheads. Haven't had one problem with it since then (June 2006). SAY NO THANK YOU TO THE EXPENSIVE FIX. Give it a chance to dry out. If that doesn't work, find a reputable indi mechanic (The Mercedes Doctor in Trussville, AL for one.) and work through the issue with him. Sorry MB, grrreat car but why do you have to treat owners like crap? I guess if I wanted ultra reliability and courteous service, I would have bought another Honda or Toyota...They were the best even with the bland styling and inability to get out of their own way. LOL

liquid is not a real issue with PC boards. It's when you run electricity through them (continuously) that kills them. The stealerships know this. When they found out from you it was just water they should have just said, "don't drive the car for a couple of days so the electronics in the gearshift dry out fully.
