The Mass Air Flow sensor or whatever you want to call it got changed. I wasn't having any issues with mine but again, figured a little preventative maintenance couldn't hurt. It's easy to change, but here are just a couple of pictures. Basically you want to unclip the side harness. Then unhook the arms connecting to the metal piece. Then it just pops out. When putting the new one on, take the arm piece off and put it on the new MAF. The put in back in. I had the best luck placing the rear in first and then snapping the arms back in place. It's really not all that hard.
No, not really. Maybe, just maybe it's a little snappier and idles a touch smoother but I think that's probably more me hoping it would run like that rather than it actually happening. Even though I had no performance issues I still really thought putting in new spark plugs, new performance wires and a new MAF would have made a noticeable difference.
There was certainly a noticeable difference when I replaced my plugs. The first example was a drive down to San Francisco that used 1/2 the gas. I know having my mother with me saved gas as I drive a bit slower (at her age, she can't handle a white knuckled road trip), but even repeated trips have saved me around 1/4 gas, along with a smoother acceleration.
