[:(!] i must have the worst luck. i was going down this road probably around 40-45 mph when i hit this dang speed bump. Air bag popped right out at me. i looked at my ride and it has no damage at all, and still drives the same. Steering wheel just looks ghetto as hell with clear tape in the middle. Where can i get another airbag?
actually, i believe that it was just a malfunctionssi.. i drive with my right hand right on 12 o'clock with a tight grip. The bag blew out but my hand never left the wheel. It felt so weak. if that was a real accident, i'd have been screwed

I never had an airbag deployed on me, and I hope to never have it happen. I think when car manufacturers first introduced airbags, there were lots of issues and risks involved during a deployment. It would make sense that they build in other safety factors into the airbags system to prevent the occupants from being injured by what was designed to protect them in the first place. Perhaps there are sensors in the airbag deployment system to measure how much resistance there are when the airbags deploy thus, how much force is exerted when the faces of the occupants go into the airbags. Perhaps because you mentioned that you had a tight grip on the wheel, the deployment system might have registered the resistance and lessoned the inflation force. Also, the airbag met premature resistance during the initial deployment stage. Anyways, it's all just a wild speculation. I have to sources to backup my theory and I'm too lazy to look it up. Cheers!
