1999 CLK 430

Hey everyone,

I have a question/favor. I am considering buying a 1999 CLK 430, which has 63,000 miles. It is in great condition. The guy I am buying it from is a friend of mine, and he is selling it for about 15K. It needs a few things done to it, such as new brakes. I don't know a whole lot about MB, but it seems like a pretty good deal. Does this sound like a good deal to you? About how much does it costs to replace brakes on the CLK? Any opinions/suggestsions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

RE: 1999 CLK 430

Sounds like a very good deal if it is in good condition. As far as the brakes go, obvioulsy if you do it yourself you'll save a lot of money. Here's the basic rule of thumb though.....if it has anything to do with Mercedes, it's going to be expensive. ha ha

If you can do your own repairs, go for it. A trip to the dealer will cost you $200 for diagnostic fees. Opening the door is considered a diagnosis, lol.
15 is a very good price, any body damage, engine?

No real body damage. There is some normal ware and tear, which I assume comes along with a 99. It has a couple minor scratches, but nothing major. The engine runs great. I has been used as a commuter car, and has been kept in great condition.

Well even with 63k that's a damn good price, at least around here. I would go for it. You can pretty much learn everything about the car right here.

Too Cheap...At that price, I would be suspicious... Dealers would pay more than $15k for that car.. IF IT ONLY NEEDS BRAKES..

RE: 1999 CLK 430

I think that price is in line. I bought a magma rot 1999 clk430 from a friend of mine for $15.5k last year with 46k on it. When I heard that she was getting a new CLS500 I asked about what she was doing with the car. I told her I wanted to buy it, and then she said "what can you afford?" I told her it was probably out of my price range but I could afford $16k then she said I'll take $15.5k save the $500 if something goes wrong. Later, I found out the dealer wanted to give her $17k. Sometimes it pays to be nice to your older neighbors :)
