Well first....you're screwed both ways. If you don't have any traction in the rear you could just spin out and not go anywhere. If there's no traction in the front you'd comprmise your steering. If money is a reason just do what I've done on previous vehicles. Go to a local tire place and buy used ones. You can get nearly new tires for basically half the cost as what they cost new.
good idea, this holiday season really killed my pockets lol. i got two brand new tires for thew back i guess ima have to get some used ones for the front =o(
Right now I wish I still had a hookup with a tire company. A family friend of ours used to work for a tire company so we'd get them at cost. Now that he doesn't I'm not looking forward to how much it's going to cost me when I have to replace my tires.
I made the mistake of not replacing my very worn tires soon enough on my C230. Back right blew at 75mph when I hit something on the road (it was almost down to the steel belt), basicaly exploded, steel belt undid itsself and trashed the inside of the wheel well, tore up the cables and lines to the brakes, and cost me a shitload to fix (not to mention the shitload I unloaded with a blowout at 75 on a freeway offramp....required change of underwear after coming to ungraceful stop). Replaced all 4 for $350 installed (but this was the stock wheels on my C230, so they're way cheaper than anything on a CLK).
Whatever you do, replace the worn ones with something not worn....
