If you have a 2001 and newer CLK, move along, nothing to see here; you've already got the chrome exhaust tip. But for those of us with 2000 and older CLKs, our cars come with the black steel exhaust tip that really bring down the look of the car. Why MB did a model face-lift for MY2000 and forgot to get rid of the black tip until 2001 we'll never know. This is the only noticeable external difference between the 2000's and 2001-2002's.
Now, if you've got a 320, you can simply buy a chrome tip on for_my_mercedes.com. But if you've got a 430, your only options are to buy a new tip from the dealer (for at least $200) or plate your tip. I went with the second option and took mine to Pacific Plating in San Diego. $85 later, I've got a beautiful chrome tip that brings the back-end to life. It took 4 weeks to do (instead of the 2 weeks estimated), but they did great work and I would recommend them. It's a 1 minute job with a #5 hex driver to get the tip on and off. Here's the before and after pics.
Finally, got it back today, and it's looking fine, the owner name Steve did a 4 star job, it took him about 3wks, and cost me $115 vs the dealer's $200, so in short if any peeps are considering getting it done it's worth it, just the down time boo-hoo!!! will post pic's of makeover shortly, tks again

do they ship out to other states? I have a 2000 coupe and am def interested in getting one.
btw, why the $30 price difference between you and Formoque?
Well obviously they do. Formoque is on the East Coast and splib (and the company) is in San Diego. That's probably the shipping difference.

ah man, im stupid. i thought San Diego was East Coast for a sec. That's good ole public education right there for ya [:)]
Well, i'm quite sure he does, but you'll have to ask him about shipping outside the states, but beware my 99 was made wit a porcelain shell, and that was the difference in the price, and i had to get it sandblasted for an x-tra $50.00 But well worth the extra mony, just did'nt like the fact of not being able to drive with a funky looking exhaust(but who cares from the back)!!! the website is www.pacificplating.com the owner's name is steve he'll hook you up shout out to "splip" for the hookup also!!!
