i just did an oil change myself... and will do the rest later like filters and stuff... but how do i reset the service light? i read some of the old post... but it was too damn confusing... can someone please help?
I'm new to this forum and have a hard time finding a button to post. I have a few questions. First the check engine light keeps popping up and go away every 2 days or so. I asked the mechanic (not from MB)and he told me that probably the airflow thing. Do you know what he is talking about..anyone has similar problem? my other question is that me car clk 430 convertible required a service B and I checked and found out that they only need to change the oil, and the dust filter...beside that they just check for fluid....Is it easy to change the dust filter? and the air filter? what is a different between these 2? Thank you very much....please help.
Whew....lots of stuff there. I'll try and help with some of it. Well you "might" need a new MAF. You also might need a new oxyen sensor. Your best bet is to take it into AutoZone or a parts store like that when the light is on and have them check the codes. They should tell you what the problem is.
I personally don't remember what is involved with the B service, but if you're right then changing the air filter is very easy. The dust filter I'm assuming is the cabin filter. Another easy change. I think there have been posts on both on how to change. The oil change....well a lot of people recommend a topsider to do this. That way there's no getting under the car and it gets most of the old, bad oil.
Are both the filters under the hood, where are they located? and there is no electrical wiring that I have to deal with, right? Does it really matter that I have to buy the filters at the MB dealer or I can just buy them at Kragen or other auto store?
Obviously the air filter is under the hood. Do a search on amg intake and I bet you find how to swap the intakes out. I know you're not changing your intake but I bet there are enough pics there for you to understand how to take the intake off and undo the torx screws and change the filters. I say if you're going to change them put K&N's on or Green filters. A lot of people will tell you not to put K&N's because if you oil them too much you'll screw things up. The cabin filter is above the foot well on the passenger side. I know there have been pics and descriptions taken of this as well. If not on this site then at least on mb world . org (take out the spaces).
Thanks, I changed the cabin filter...extremely easy...3 screws underneath the dash board and 1 screw on the left side of the passenger foot...I also changed the air filter too. I didn't know my car requires 2 instead of 1. I have a question though....does it matter if I buy the air filter at Kragen or at MB dealer? Also, the K&N reuseable...is it worth it? recommended? Thanks,
