Suspension or wheel Problem???

I just noticed my car is making weird noice when i drive over 35mph. It kinda sounds like as if i had a flat tire or one needed air... zom zom zom zom zom... the inteval between "zoms" is proportinal to the speed. I checked the air pressure of all tires, and made sure nothing was stuck or making contact with them.

Also, once i get over 65 mph the steering wheel has a slight shake that is proportional to the noice. I will get my tires balanced a soon as possible, but I really doubt that will fix the problem. Any suggestions?

RE: Suspension or wheel Problem???

How old are the tires? What kind are they?
Folks using very aggressive tread patterns hear this a lot, usually after they have some wear on them.

humm... that actually makes sence. I want to say i have about 15 - 20% of thread life on them. I had a tire rotation done about 4 months ago.. so the rear tires are near the end of their life.
Here is the pattern.. what do u think?

I'll bet that's what doing it...
I had to swap for a different set to get rid of the whine (vrrm, vrrm, vrrrrrmmmmm) problem.
New tires and now a quiet CLK!

rub your hand along the sides of the tread, along the contact patch. If you feel cupping,or a definate raised edge, that's the culprit.
were the rear tires worn on the inside? our "squat" will wear them that way. If the fronts were worn due to an alignment problem, and then they went to the back, then the noise will show up as well.

I think Hankook are great for the money, not the quietest, but long life for sure.
