RE: What do C L K stand for?

When the CLK was launched in the UK the description of it was that it was a short light(weight) coupe or Coupe Leicht Kurz.

Whatever the C L is, we just have to add 'short' at the end. So, anyone knows what C L stands for?[:D]

RE: What do C L K stand for?

W208Cab,

See my previous post. Mercedes have obviously built numerous coupes over the years and are well known for the larger models like the SECs of the eighties and C140s in the nineties.

In 1996 DB decided to re-name these larger coupes and the Coupe variants of the W140s became the CLs or coupe line. In todays terms we have the W215s which are the present larger coupes.

The CLK nomenclature was introduced to distinguish the W208 from the larger coupe models. Works exactly the same way for the SLs and SLKs.
