Best place to get a wheel repaired...

Does anyone know where the best place to get a wheel repaired? I've been searching the web and found a couple of places so far (metrowheels, wheels america, wheel technologies, and wheel collision), but I want to send my rim to the best place possible. Anyone have any experience with these people?

I have talked to Wheel American but they only do easy fixes. Wheel Technique in Santa Clara seems like they know what they are doing but their fee are quite high.

I have a crack in the inside and this was a difficult fix. It is going to cost me $250.

Wheel technique has a good reputation, but a bit pricey.
There is a place I had one repaired at in Union City that did great work, but I can't find the name right now.
Try this one, it's closer to you.

Yea, I'm not taking it there after you told me what happened to the wheels when they were yours...

I think I'm going to try wheelsamerica in Union City or Wheelcollision in Pennsylvania...hopefully these rims won't bend again. I'm tired of the Lowenhart 3-piece bending drama already! [:(!]

DONT GO TO WHEEL TECHNIQUE
I took my CLK 430 there and they tried to rip me off. They are totally unorganized and are basically 3 white trash guys fixing wheels. STAY AWAY! They willl rip you off

RE: Best place to get a wheel repaired...

Where are I go in the Bay Area?

I took the wheel to Union City. Wheelsamerica said that they won't work on my wheel because it is cracked and too difficult to repair.

Wheel Technique wanted $250. I think it is too high. Lowenhart CLK said that they are a rip off.

0209CLK said that Stocktonwheel.com is no good.

So where can I go? Please suggest a reasonable price, reliable place in San Francisco/San Mateo/Peninsular.

Mine is cracked in the same spot, passenger rear wheel. Still going to get it fixed, but since I'm rolling my stock AMG wheels for the winter season, I'm in no rush. What model / size Lowenharts did you pick up?

RE: Best place to get a wheel repaired...

For what it's worth, I have had a couple of rims repaired due to pothole damage, by Wheel Tech (aka Wheel Techniques) about 8 years ago. They were not cheap but they did quality work. I recently got an estimate to remove some pretty serious road rash on one of my AMG rims (thanks to the previous owner). They wanted about $155 to repair.

RE: Best place to get a wheel repaired...

Back when I thought I needed rim repair, I also checked it out. A factory rerplacement 2002 CLK55 AMG cabriolet, two piece rim, was $1080.00.

If it had needed it, I would have gone the $250.00 and felt relieved. When reading these threads, it sounds like any less cost is usually trouble.

I took mine to have a race balance done, during which they check the rim for run out, and the curb I bumped, didn't bend the rim after all.

Think about what is a stake, if you get a cheap fix, and the wheel comes apart on the highway.

Thousands, maybe in damage repair, and then there is your safety.
