So my car hasn't been driven in a week and refused to start this morning according to my wife. I just got a new battery put in about a month ago too b/c of this same problem. Assuming nothing electronic was left on (which is probably the case), anyone suggest a reason for this happening? I think I read somewhere that the COMAND is constantly on? I'm having it shipped 2100 miles this week so it will take about a week to get to me and I'm afraid it won't start when they try to unload it from the truck.
update: well the guy from MB roadside told me it was normal for this to happen because of all the computers in the car and that it needs to be started every 2nd or 3rd day. He jumped it from the front rather than the trunk since we couldn't get the trunk open. Anyone know where to connect the cables in the front? I left my users manual back in Chi-town for now.
Not saying the guy is wrong but I just left my car for two weeks and when I came back it started with no problem. Then again I don't have command with my car.
Your battery should not drain in 2-3 days of non-use. Also, do not jump the battery from the terminals under the hood. Use those terminals to get enough power to activate the trunk release. Then jump the car from the battery in the trunk. The terminals are loacated on the driver side, right after the fuse box. It is a rectangular black box with a large "X" on it. If you flip the top, you'll see the 2 terminals. If memory serves me correctly, the positive is on the left and neg on the right.
My car sits all week too, no command, but it always starts right up, tell them to fix your fu**** car, how would they like their wife to be stuck without a starting car

Well, my mechanic found a few things drawing from my battery. First one was my aftermarket amp so we just disconnected that (I'll have it rewired later). Second one was the phone charger so we pulled the phone out of the cradle. Third was the COMAND unit. Unfortunately, my extended warranty covers everything but the nav unit so I'm SOL on this one. As long as I don't leave it parked for more than 3-4 days it should be ok. Otherwise, they told me to pull the fuse for the nav unit (I think fuse #10) if I won't be using the car for several days. Thought of going aftermarket nav for a second but didn't think it was worth it right now since nothing else is really wrong with the nav. If all else fails my $120 MB battery is covered for 2 years and has free jumps. =)
My car has Command (Nav) and it sat on a shipping truck for about 10 days. I don't know if it ever changed trucks during it's journey from Georgia to California, but when the shipping truck arrived at my door... it started right up.
