I'm a newbie here, and just bought a CLK 430 Cabriolet, last Thursday.(attached) I have read many of the previous post's, and want to thank this site and everyone who has posted here, with help for us new owners. particularly:
1. Thanks for the post on how to open up the gas lid,was able to get gas on the first try.( I hope I never lose the key)
2. On how to program the remote control garage door opener, the book instructions weren't very clear. was able to get into the house, (more important than the gas)
The over all atmosphere, generally seems to help each other, and I look forward to more advice and gaining new friends from around the globe with the same afliction for this car as I have.
Garage door opener, try to hold the button down (the one you would like to program to among the three) for a few seconds until the light on mirror flashes. Then press the button on your regular remote control garage door opener (may be hold for a good one or two seconds). The mirror light will flash again and tell you that it's been programed. Repeat and try to hold buttons longer if it doesn't work. The key can be either in 2 or 3 (standby).
Funny story, I got a C-class loaner once and while I pressed the button to play with it, it opened my neighbor's gate. Must have been the same channel.

I could not find the gas lid release, so I looked it up on here, and found that it was locked, and only could be unlocked with the key. I read it took another owner 15 minutes at the pumps to figure it out there wasn't a release inside the car. better him than me I guess.
The garage door opener was harder, as I have a rolling code remote, you have to first program the car's remote,( I did that about 15 times the first night) then hit the learning button on the actual garage door motor, for it to learn the code from the car.( found this out on here) weird, but it worked, all thanks to the owners on here. I find that pretty cool.

I have a rolling code remote too - so how do you "program" the car's remote? Just push and hold the button? Then push and hold the one on the back of the motor?
I did what the book said and the car wouldn't learn diddly. Funny, cos I have a '97 C230 that works just fine (press button on back of motor, within 5 seconds press and hold button in car until light on motor flashes...doesn't work with '00 CLK 32).

to program the remote in the car, first I programmed the remote, under the rearview, by holding down the A button (you can choose any A,B, or C) and holding the hand held remote close to it, at the same time, until the light under the mirror, begins to flash rapidly. Then, I had the car in the garage already, but climbed up to see the motor of the garage door opener, there is a learning button there, ( my door is a craftsman) then you have 30 seconds or so to get in the car and hold down the remote button under the mirror. Make sure the key is in, and turned over, otherwise the light never comes on, hold the button down until it begins to blink faster, about 10 seconds. That did it for me. hope it works for you.
