Hi, if you're not familiar with it, admittedly it's a hard word to spell, but use the search function for "resonator" in the forums and you'll find lots of folks who have done it. Most seem to concur there's probably no real increase in HP just from removing the resonators, but there is a little more exhaust noise, so if that's not an issue (or it's actually something you desire) then it's a fairly common mod.
I've finally gotten out of the "rumble days" (well, at least in a nice car, I still have pipes on my Ducati) so I'm happy to leave mine quiet. Plus, I've got the 6, so it would probably sound anemic. [:)]
FWIW, a resonator is conceptually like a secondary muffler, typically they add very little backpressure and serve only to flatten some of the amplitude on the residual noise from the cats and mufflers.
If you're looking for a little shot of horsepower and a more authoritative sound, you may want to investigate some of the complete aftermarket exhaust systems. They can be quite costly and some are beyond the scope of the typical weekend DIY project. Again, a search of these forums will yield lots of information.
