Mercedes to Show CLK "Kind of Hybrid" at Frankfurt
Date Posted 07-25-2005
STUTTGART, Germany — Mercedes-Benz is planning to display a special prototype version of its CLK-Class two-door at this fall's Frankfurt Motor Show.
The show car, called the CLK ISG, is a gas-electric vehicle, which a company spokesman described in a recent interview with Inside Line as a "kind of hybrid." For now, the prototype is bound only for the show and not for showrooms.
Mercedes will have five CLK ISG models on hand in Frankfurt. The cars will be available for test-drives at that time. Although Mercedes could build a version of the car for sale, the model's production plans are unclear at this time.
What this means to you: With such extensive resources committed to diesel as an alternative fuel, Mercedes is singing a new song with this prototype.

If they can find a way to give it balls, more power to them. They have to fix the appearance first though.
I gotta admit something. I actually toyed with the hybrid (Toy/Honda) idea because of the mileage I put on. Fortunately I have a European wife who knows the quality of Benz and talked me into another one. They'll sell some, but I'll bet their first series will be a mess.
