stupid HID Kelvin temp question

Ok, is there an easy way to tell what the temp of your d2r bulb is? I only ask because I was looking at HID conversion kits for the fog lights and wondered what temp would match my lights. I assume mine were not changed by the previous owner, but when I compare mine to Str8's, they're different. I think both of ours are 4300K lights. Mine have a purple tint to them though while his have more of a bluish tint. Maybe I'm completely wrong. I guess I'll have to snap some pics of them side by side, although I've taken pictures of my HID lights and the color doesn't come through at all like it does in person.

I think purple color pertains to 8000k bulbs.

The bulbs should be the same (philips 4300K), but our housings are different. I retoriffited the xenons to my non-xenon housing. You have the housing made for xenons, which not only disperces the light better, but reflects it differently, thus showing a different color.

RE: stupid HID Kelvin temp question

I heard that no HIDs are really the same colour, but similar. Over time they "burn in" and produce and a richer colour?

RE: stupid HID Kelvin temp question

Well that's true. Ours don't even look close to the same though.

Back to my thought on the H3 conversion, then really I'm just taking a guess anyway since you're probably still not going to get an exact match with burn in and other factors.

That would be my thought .... A friend of mines retro fitted projectors in his 430, looks sweet. I'll try and see if he has any pics. You could go that route and get the xenon fog lamps with no porb. [:D]
