Hey guys, I ended up here the other day when I was googling for CLK forums. This forum seems like a great place to share ideas and get advice from the people who really know about this car and what to expect from it.
I'm close to closing a deal on a CLK320 and was hoping to get your guys opinion on what would be the better buy.
Option #1)
99 CLK320 with 85K Km, priced at 23.888K Canadian from a Hyundai dealership
Option #2)
00 CLK320 with 46K Km, priced at 27.9K Canadian from a Mercedes dealership
So basically its a 4K difference, but with that 4K you get half the mileage and a year newer car. I'm leaning towards the 2000 CLK at this point though.

Welcome to Benzworld.
I would be a little concerned about why someone traded a Benz in on a Hyundai. Does the Benz dealer offer a warranty? I think it's a no brainer at this point. Go with the 2000. Btw, a private seller is still the best way to go imho.

go with the 2000, it's still under warrenty and you can get extended warrenty for up to 100k miles for an extra $1800.. and you'll also get more option with the 2000 than you would with the 99 , plus the exterior in my opinion looks better on the 2000 than the 99 . you don't have the ugly black panels in the bottom like the 99 does , and your impact strips are color matched with the car instead of being a different color like it is in the earlier models, and you get your turn signals in the side mirors instead of that little lense in the fender ..plus you get express down and up window buttoms in the 2000 , in the 99 you don't have that option , just a few things that i can thing about for right now , i'm sure there's more ... for 4k difference it's a no brainer ...get the 2000
good luck , and welcome to the fourum

why would an owner of a clk320 trade it in for a hyundai if it were not for problems....well, they could have got a 4dr or a suv....anyway....there's a risk so....
get the 2000 & the extended warranty...it's worth it in the long run.
there is someone on the other benz forum selling a 320 for 8400.. 115k miles.. but benz will go at least 200k miles.. i'd jump on this.. it already has the amg kit installed.. looks nice..

Thanks for all your input guys, very much appreciated, at the very least it reaffirms my decision to go with the 2000. And because this will be my first car, its all new territory making these kinds of decisions.
I dont really understand how that car could possibly be selling for 8K, and the mileage is much more than what I'm looking for.
And the whole 1999 Hyundai thing began to bother me even more when I got the ownership history. The guy traded the car in at Mercedes and then they sold it to Hyundai, which I dont really understand. Whereas the 2000 was traded into Mercedes, then it was Star Certified and they're selling it themselves.
