RE: Ipod hook up

your better off getting the I-trip. its a component that lets you listen to ipod through radio station. i have heard mixed things online...like the reception is sometimes not great. a friend just got the unit and says it works great. no wires...nothing good luck..let me know how it works out. i am looking to get i pod as well.

RE: Ipod hook up

i trip fucking sucks unless you live in the country where there are tons of open radio frequencies if you live in a big city area you will get horrible reception.. no bass.. less than radio clarity

RE: Ipod hook up

Ya, dude...

the fm transmitters pretty much suck. sound quality is crappy at best.

if your car has an aux jack like some of the later Mercs, then that is the best solution, since it is hard wired.

if your car doesn't have the aux jack, hopefully it has a cassette player (i'm guessing since your car is a 2000, it probably has a cassette player in the factory system). a cassette adapter would be your next best solution.

there are also some new products out that can be installed by stereo shops that adapt an ipod into the factory system. i believe you may have to give up the cd changer for this option, but having an ipod integrated is far superior to a 6 or 10 disc changer anyway. monster cable is making one called icruze, but i don't believe it has hit the marketplace yet.

good luck

RE: Ipod hook up

I was outbid on the iTrip, glad I was after reading this. I use "old faithful", the cassette deck. Sounds great. Well that was before my Ipod Mini started having the dreaded (but common) static problem. Apple has it now.

I leave the cassette adapter in at all times, it's in a position that doesn't cause the door open beep sound. You have to work with the wire to get the sound to leave, once it gone, just leave it place. I ran the wire under the wood of the shifter and tucked it into the crevices around the radio etc. So it's not seen at all. The ipod can hide in the center console at this point. I tried an air vent clip it broke and was too visible.

I have an FM Transmitter and it sucks cuz I live in a fairly big city with few dead stations... so I get a lot of static at times. I am trying to use the old school cassatte adapter like you... but I cant get the damn beeping to stop no matter where I put the wire. Do you have a picture of how you did yours... Or could tell me where you have your wire to make the beeping stop?

Thanks.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for or not... cuz its not a seperate dvd player and monitors. But, I think kenwood has something. I was just in a local audio/video shop and the setup the guy was suggesting me to get is a two din touch screen dvd/cd/mp3/vcd player. I remember one of the things he said to me was that you can have dvd audio from some speakers and music from other speakers. I am planning on getting one installed in the next few weeks (after I get my Tax Returns [:D] ). If I remember, I will let you know more later.

Do you have BOSE speakers? If so, did you have to get an adapter or anything for the speakers when you put in the pioneer unit?

ya i have bose speakers and w6's in the trunk.. i dont know if i had to get an adapter or anything for the shit to work prorperly.. what i want to do is be able to play a movie via the televisions and then play a cd while the screens are showing a movie.. i can currently play a movie and have the radio playing but i'd rather be able to play a cd of my choice.. so have 50 cent playing or something while a movie is showing on the headrest/mirror screens..
