RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

The 430 has the amg wheels and the Amg Body kit. For 1998 and 1999 there were no clk55 so technicly the 430's were the amg models.

If you look at the side skirts and bumpers they are stamped AMG and so are the wheels so they are genuine AMG parts.

Does anyone agree or have any other coments?

Great question bjorkson!

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

I don't believe there ever was an AMG version for CLK430. CLK430 has the AMG kit and AMG wheel only. It is just like the regular V8 CLK with AMG sport package, no engine mods.

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

So basically, all CLK 430 are considered AMG, compared to the CLK 320.

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

No I would not say that. I would just call CLK430. If adding the sport package make the car "AMG" then nobody would spend that much to buy the "real" AMG version.

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

A true AMG car is much more than the simple addition of a body kit and wheels.

The CLK55 AMG had more powerful brakes, a completely different suspension (springs, shocks, control arms, sway bars, etc), and a 5.5 liter engine hand built and numbered by the mechanics at the AMG division of Mercedes.

The 430's were never considered AMG models and there was never a CLK430 AMG. Some people think that since they have the kit and the wheels that it merits putting the badge on. I personally think it's kind of lame because people that don't know cars wouldn't know the difference and anyone that would appreciate it would know right off the bat that it's not a real AMG.

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

Totally agree with JoshKeaton. I feel sorry for those who add AMG [stickers] to their cars (sorry if this offends you ...).

Some people even put just AMG rims (without AMG body kits) on their cars and stick the //AMG on it ... how lame!

One question for owners of CLK's. CLK430 is the only Mercedes non-AMG that comes with AMG sport package as STANDARD. Why? ... why not SL, E, S, CL, ML .... ?

RE: CLK 430 & CLK 430 AMG

i do agree with you guys but at the same time i dont.

The only V8 for 1999 was the 430 and 430's only come with amg kit and wheels.

I have a 1999 clk 430. as far as it being an amg or not..........no but i think it deserves the stiker

i have amg fron brake upgrade, amg stearing wheel amg door sills, amg dash cluster, amg shifter, amg pedals, amg floor matts, amg front emblem replasment badge and amg rear badge.

All though its no areall amg it has everything on it thats amg. I love the company and i chose to put their upgrades on my car, i could have done loriner or brabus but i chose AMG so i think i deserve to advartise their badge on my trunk sense all their parts are stamed AMG as is.
