Unless Garmin has upgraded their Navi, it is a piece of junk. it does not even come close to recognizing voice commands and entering destination address is a real pain and takes a long time. The voice directions are not very good and it does not track the existing traffic condition to suggest alternate route. After using it couple of times, I don't use it at all and use my Android phone. It is far more efficient and reliable. You will be wasting your $800 to get the Navi SD card.

If you have the AUDIO 20 Garmin Map Pilot and the pre-wired SD slot, then the Part number is A213 906 27 04 for the SD card. Check with the dealership to verify. Run your VIN on the vin checker and see what audio system comes up.

VIN: MERCEDES-BENZ (???????? ??????????) | CARInfo

Mercedes-Benz Revcars.ru

I have an upgraded SD card available that the dealership sent me. My car has the COMAND system so it will not work on my car. I ended up bringing my car to the dealership for the upgrade but I still have the SD card. I was going to list it on EBAY.

Why did the dealership send you an upgraded SD card. Is it part of the warranty?
I am asking because my Garmin navigation is useless. May be I should ask for an upgrade while the car is still under warranty.

Thanks in advance for your candid response

My car included 3 years of map upgrades and the dealership sent me an SD card for AUDIO 20. When it did not work I went to the dealership and they realized that I have COMAND. That takes a USB memory stick upgrade. They expedited one in and performed my first upgrade. I was able to use the Mercedes Online upgraded tool to updated the SD card.

Does the new upgrade improved on speech recognition and does it give you real time traffic situation?

The speech recognition on mine is pathetic and the navi has no clue about the traffic.

Save your money

If you are in the US, save your money and buy a stand alone unit. I have the Garmin smart pilot chip. Just upgraded the maps again. They are still at least 4 years out of date when compared to my stand alone Garmin units. They have missing roads (built over 3 years ago), wrong speed limits, etc. These were all updated on my stand alone Gramin unit within 6 months of occurrences. And to make matters worse, it seems the overpriced Mercedes version of maps are only updated once a year where the standard units are updated every 3 months. If you buy a stand alone Garmin, be sure it has life time updates for the maps and traffic (LMT at the end of the model number).

As for voice recognition, I have found both the Mercedes chip and the stand alone units to be reasonable on voice recognition. They are not as good as the smartphone at this. But the smartphone goes back to a central computer with much more power for voice recognitions.

I can only speak for the USA. Since almost everyone has a smart phone, I don't see any benefit of having the navigation in the car. In my 2015 C300, it is very cumbersome to enter the destination address and voice command is useless. Even though I have the navigation in my C300, I seldom use it. I use my Android cell phone. Like ArizonaJon, said, don't waste your money on the Mercedes navigation option. Use your smart phone.
