I was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar encounter with the stock PZERO tires on the c63. I have not had my car 1 year yet and noticed one day while detailing the car that the tires were bald!!!!! I mean BALD!!!!! I contacted the dealer I purchased the car and am still in the run around with them 5 months later!!! I tried another dealer that I had taken it for service at 1000mi( yes I realize now I didnt 1k service) and the service manager told me " Thats the nature of the BEAST". How lame is that!!! I am a very calm driver I wasnt taking the car to the track nor burning out at every stop!!!!! not to mention I BABIED the car the first 1000mi during break in. So I cant understand how tires can wear out in 3500mi from normal wear and tear!!! So everybody out there please let me know what mileage your averaging on your tires???
(ps maybe its just me but doesn't the wear on the tires seem uneven??)
That is right, 3500 miles on rear of C63 is not abnormal. These are high performance , sticky tires for the car. Pirelli does not do anything for tire wear..
If you get yourself a nice set of touring tires, you'll be getting more miles per tire. My uncles CL63 used to eat tires as well, until he got himself a decent set of touring tires. I must say, he's pleased.
That uneven tire wear could be improper inflation pressure. Did you check that?
Thanks for the heads up!!! I guess I should stock up on some extra sets of tires (maybe I could get a volume discount!!).
So at 3k per set average means that an average driver of 12k/yr would have an additional expense of $2536 /yr ($293/tire+$24 mount X 2 tires 4 times a year)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats an additional $211/mo expense!!!!!
Thank God I live close to where I work and only average 6k/year!!!! So I only need 2 sets/year
Thanks for the Info!!! I will definetly NOT be getting the same tires again. I dont need the extra traction (i dont go racing around) . May I ask what brand of tires your uncle got (as you can see by the pic I need some ASAP)? I am pretty sure it is not pressure related I check it regulary.

I have an interesting question... if you 'baby' the pedal when you leave a stop, and drive slowly, WHY ON EARTH DID YOU GET A C63?????
You should have gotten a C230 instead. That engine is there for a reason, and you would have to feather the pedal ever so carefully to keep it from slipping the rear tires (not noticable to the driver unless you really hammer the pedal).
Thanks for the comment Incartronics. But if you read CAREFULLY I babied the car the first 1000mi. So my point was being that they wore down in approx 2500mi (3500-1000initial).I drive hard but not on the track and when I accerate I try to do it without causing wheel spin. I am just shocked at this as I have never had a car with such rapid tread wear.I cant say the tires don't slip here and there, the traction control came on only a couple of times. If the tires slip without my knowing than that would explain alot. I am just trying to get some honest feedback from some fellow enthusiasts because I dont expect a dealer to give me honest answers!! As for your "interesting" question I love my car and have no regrets I am JUST trying to find out if this is normal wear or not??!!!!

If I remember, they are Goodyear Eagles. They had a goofy name after Eagle, but they are Goodyear.
That looks like over-inflation to me. You still have a decent amount of minimal outer tread left... Too much PSI will cause the tire to bulge out in the center. You will also get less traction due to less tire to ground contact, thus more wheel spin, and less mileage per set of tires. I wouldn't think it's normal for any car to wear as the photograph shows. Of course, I've never owned a 600+ HP rear wheel drive work of art either...
