extended warranty and prepaid service plan

I'm getting a CPO 2011 C300 sport with 7,700 miles/one year.

Dealer has performed the first A service as part of the certification.

The finance person is trying hard to sell me a Star service plan to cover next three services (20k, 30k & 40k) and for whatever reason he wanted to bundle a 2-yr/135k extended warranty together for a total of $3000. Both pre-paid service and extended warranty are from MB, not third party.

I plan to keep the car for long term (pass original and CPO warranty) and am wondering if the price sounds right.

I think the quote is fair because the third pre-paid service will be the 4yr/40k with tranny flush/filter. your comments are greatly appreciated!

I got my CPO and opted for the 2 yr/ 135K warranty. Remember the CPO automatically comes with 1 yr/ 100K, so you get 2 yrs on top of the 1 yr for a total of 3 years/ 135K.

I paid 2K for the 2 yr/ 135K so an additonal grand for the next 3 services is about right (maybe more depending on dealer). Go for it, you really dont want a benz with no warranty

Thanks, wicked71.
It's comforting to know I'm paying fair price.
Do you know what happen to the service plan if the car got stolen or totaled before the services are performed?

I am not sure, but I would say it's probably like the warranty. You would get a prorated refund.

The price you received seems fair to me based on previous experience, especially since it is an MB product. If you truly plan on keeping the car for 6+ years its a good idea IMO to have the protection. Chances are it will eventually pay off, especially if you dirve a lot of miles or just put on harder miles.
For comparison, I just got a quote for my 2011 E550. One year and 25,000 miles from MB for 2k. That seemed high to me!!

Based on my experience with a CPO ML, the pricing seems reasonable for the Mercedes-backed extended warranty and service combination.

appreciate all the comments! I just decided to get both Star service and two-year MB extended warranty.

btw, I called a highly praised Indy specialized in MB and the owner said he would charge me about $1100-$1200 for three services at 20k/30k/40k and considered the offer reasonable. One added bonus my dealer does is they will drop off a loaner at my house and drive the car back after service with free car washes
