I've installed Ipod adapter B6 782 42 52 in my 2008 C300 with audio 20 sound system but it does not work. The speedo area that normally shows cd titles no longer shows data either. Does anyone know if the car needs to be connected to Star diagnostics to to turn on the new feature. Or is B6 782 42 52 the correct model of Ipod adapter for a 2008 C300 with audio20?

hi,
It's ( B6 782 42 52 ) not work on your car because. It's for ( up to ) 2007 C Klass Cars
you needs this kit ( A204 870 44 96 )
cya
Exactly, and also get A204 870 39 94 iPod amplifier (should be included with the above 4496 part) and make SURE it's GERMAN and NOT Chinese manufactured, which are defective by design.
Thank you for your help. I just sold the adapter on eBay. Now I'm trying to find the media interface, because I'd like to be able to connect a USB drive. Hoping that a USB can be connected this way.
I've been reading about another media interface that does not include the Navigation system. Something not an iPod interface or UMI, just MI. Suppose to be somewhere around $400-$500 dollars. Do you know anything about that and if it can be installed in a 08 model that only has audio 20 and aux input?
There is an option (perhaps dealer installed?) listed in various MB vehicle brochures, this line is taken from page 3 of the new CLC catalog:
Media interface (universal consumer interface UCI – in the glove compartment for various mobile audio devices (including consumer cables) (nicw code 523) 518
Thank you for your assistance. I learned now that my only option is to buy the Nav+4 UMI if I want USB. So I guess that is what I'll do.
Has anyone installed their own?
USB implies you are going to use MP3, a highly quality-compromised format (distortion and compressed bass, missing textures). As long as you are splurging for the UMI, for $100 get an iPod Classic and go Apple lossless encoding.
OR you can save your $, get an iPod classic and listen mainly to playlists of your Apple lossless tunes.
