everytime i go over a bump or even on a smooth highway, I hear this rattling sound that is driving me crazy. I can only tell that it's coming from passenger side, but can't locate where it's coming from.
It's the moon/sun roof. Trust me on this. Had the same problem with mine on the same side. Tech found it was the track that had to be lubricated. Problem was fixed.
i had my moon roof fixed about a month ago because it was rattling when it was in open position. maybe they didn't do it right..
I did some test while driving. i opened the roof and i still hear the noise..
but i think you are right. will make appointment sometime next week before the big turkey day
Sounds can be deceiving, it sounds like it might be coming from the passenger side and it could well be coming from the driver side. I had the same problem about 5 months ago and it was coming from my dash. They had a recall on it and it was some clips that needed to be changed in the dash

My wife noticed the same thing. It's probably coming from under the passenger seat. It's one of the sensors or one of the connections that's hooked onto the front underneath part of the passenger seat. It has to be pushed back in. It should stop the rattling. To test it, have someone tap on the top of the seat while you're looking (feeling) under it. You'll stop the vibration as soon as you touch it. Good luck.
Speaking of strange sounds, almost every time I start or stop, I hear some "floop" sound coming from the right side of the dash, as if a door or damper was opening or closing. What can this be?
My weird sound comes from the trunk, for months I was convinced that the rattling sound from the trunk comes from the baby stroller that's usually in the trunk... That's until I noticed that even after I took everything out of the trunk the rattling sound persisted. I blamed the toolbox in the spare wheel compartment, but I wasn't able to fix it so far.
Anybody else had this issue with their W204 ? Mine is a 2008 C320 CDI 4-matic btw.
I have the same sound coming from the rear of my car. It sounds like its coming from the rear ceiling but I am not sure. It could also be from the rear seats, umbrella shelf or from the trunk itself. I'm really not sure exactly where but it happens when I go over bumps. I also hear another sound from the rear even when the car is just idling. Sounds like someone put a rock in the back and had it move around. It's driving me nuts trying to figure out where the sound is coming from. Mine is a Euro 2007 C280.
i found the source of the rattling sound. It's the bar underneath the seat where the bolt is located. I kept shaking the seat and felt through vibration on the hand when i touched the bolt on the back. Im' going to see if tightening the bolt will fix the problem. If not, i'll just lubricate the area to get rid of rattling/squeaky sound..
