W204 Sidemarker replacement

Amber sidemarker got chipped and I want to replace it.
Anyone know approximately how much this will cost. Is this something easy to take off/put on or will it need to go to the dealership. Just the "cap" needs replaced, not the light itself.

Thanks for the help.

It's about a ten-fifteen minute job per side and AZN300 posted an excellent step by step set of directions. I have a set of OE amber markers, if that is what you're looking for, from when I installed smoked lenses. PM me if interested.

I was just quoted $188 for service. Said they need to remove the front panel to get to it.
Can someone send me the steps that were posted if you can find them.

Thanks

Michael,

I tried searching for your post, but there's so much both from you and on the topic, I did not see those excellent DIY notes and pictures you posted. Can you recall about when you did that, please?

Thanks!

aw man that is the biggest rip off of all time... WOW!

You can buy a set of brand new smoked or clear markers on ebay for only $50 and install them yourself in 5-10 mins...

step 1 - turn wheel inward on the side you are replacing so you have more room to work with (you wheel need to start car and do this for each side

step 2 - pull out 3 plastic push pin plugs under wheel well so you can pull back the plastic liner

step 3 - pull back plastic liner from bottom edge and get it up just enough so it goes over the painted lip of your fender... now you should have enough space to get your hand in there

step 4 - turn bulb to release from sidemarker assembly and remove

step 5 - pull apart side marker assembly and remove by unlocking the one tab on the inside housing that is locking the two pieces (outer lens and inside housing part) together

step 6 - replace with new markers, put every thing back in reverse order

do at your own risk, not responsible for any damage you do to your vehicle... these are only an outline of basic steps, and if you do not feel confident doing yourself please take to local body shop
