COMMAND Update

Can anyone tell me if there is a new update for the COMMAND with audio fade included?

I asked my SA and he doesn't know.

Took my car in for an A service, told them to put in the update, they hooked up the computer, couldn't have the CD, didn't do an update but still charged me $50.

Now, he claims that there is no CD update available.

If anyone can help, that would be great. Also, any part number or something I can tell him to look for?

I don't know why he/she would say that. However, if you search for a thread called "Navigation Update DVD worth it?" you will see that there may be an answer for you there. L O N G list of folks on that one.

Can you be more specific with that, the thread is too long and boring to search through. Do you mean they explain how to regain the audio fade during navi announcements?

For the OP, there are no service CDs or similar if you were after such part numbers. The Comand unit needs to be updated with Star. I did not check specifically for the 204 but I believe there is a later SW that gives this audio fade feature but this is not classified as a bug by MB and the SW update would cost you unless you can figure out some other reasons to request it for free.

For me, there is an option for the audio fadeout in the Nav menu. Is it not there for everyone?

Not on my Comand, but it is an NTG3 at the W221. It could be on all Comands on a 204, I'm waiting for the OP to confirm his case. It should solve his problem (on the 221 the fade out was there with first Comand SW revisions, disappeared and then came back).

I've asked for command updates on my last few visits to the AD and have been told everytime that none are available. When I asked about autofade the SA looked at me like I had two heads.

Audio music fade @ driver side speaker during nav instructions, only available after COMAND update.
MB DTB Star bulletin and the order number is P-B-82.70/61d dated August 11 for bluetooth update but that includes audio fade.

Go to your dealer and talk to a serv rep that there's smething wrong with the unit "since you bought it" and tell them to fix it. Remeber to use that, "since I bought it".. I told them that and they were really kind and told me oh! There's an update for that and I waited 2 hours, and presto, new updated software... and yes I have that fade between music and directions, although it is quite bothering since I was acostumed to the other way around

If you go in and ask for the latest Command S/W update, they should easily be able to tell you that and install it.
