Im new to this forum, as well as mercedes, but i recently purchased a new c300 4 matic luxury sedan.
I am a college student at purdue university, but i am from connecticut. I tried to purchase the car out here in indiana and figured out that i would have to pay 2 sales taxes if i tried to register it in CT. So instead, i had my parents purchase it for me and i flew home one day and drove it back the next. I did not have any time during this process to sit down and nit pick the car, i was too overwhelmed with how nice it was.
About a few weeks into owning the car out here, i noticed some issues which had been bothering me. Among the most annoying was that the leather under my door handle was torn. I know for a fact that i couldnt have done this, and so i took it to the dealership here, which also sells audis and volkswagens for some reason, to get it fixed but was treated rather awfully.
I took it in and the service manager said she would have to get approval from someone. After a month and a half of constantly being told "we will call you back" I finally called mercedes customer service and they called her. they suggested that i take it in again and that she will take pictures and be more helpful.
It has been a week and a half since this has happened and I have received no help. Im afraid that so much time will pass before this gets resolved that they will blame the issue on the fact that the car is so old. In addition, i was spoken to in a condescending way at the dealership, which is fine because im young but i honestly feel as if this dealership gets away with murder because it is the only one around.
Is there anything i can do? Does anyone know someone i should contact at mercedes?
Well, the obvious thing to do is find another dealership. Considering where you are, that shouldn't be all that difficult.
When I first read your thread title, I was expecting something really awful, like a mechanical problem. You're stuck in the "endless-dealer-who-doesn't-really-want-to-help-loop". Start by looking for another dealer to work on the car.
Secondly, there are at least a couple of threads rattling around someplace either here, or at MBWorld.org, that list the names of just about everybody who matters at MBUSA. Do a search and see what comes up.
Thirdly, in a situation like yours, you should ask to talk to the General Manager of the dealership - explain the problem and your unhappiness - sometimes, this is all it takes.
They are going to speak to you and treat you the way you are because your young. I am young too and can't stand when people judge on appearences. Anyway I'd be consistent and good luck. I'm currently battling an issue with an auto shipper. It is not fun and I feel your pain.
