I really like the new C300 interior, particularly in the Luxury version (which I own) but I've wished it had a tad more wood trim in it, particularly on the dash. So I've purchased the C300 interior wood trim kit made by B&I and it came in the mail today. Not sure if I'm going to install the whole thing or just a few select pieces yet.
I was wondering if anyone else here has tried installing that on their C300, and if so do you have any tips to share? Installation seems straightforward enough, but if there are any pitfalls I'd appreciate hearing about them.
I purchased a Brushed Aluminum kit for my C300 sport and it matches the interior perfect. I looked at B&I and they were more expensive than the kit I installed and it covers more. Though I would like to get the instrument cluster suround and the console cover. The pieces actually apply over the existing dash/door pieces and are held on with 3M tape. Make sure you install on a warm day or use a hair dryer to pre-heat the pieces and the dash. Also test fit before actually applying the pieces. Clean well with the prep pads but I only used the accelorator on the drastically curved pieces. Enjoy it I hope the wood matches well it didn't on my Chrysler Sebring convertable (anouther reason I didn't go with B&I).
Is it an actual trip peaces or live a vinyl sticker that goes over your existing?
The trim seems to be made of thin multi-layered plastic pieces, formed to fit over the existing dish and center console parts and backed by a 3M adhesive. The pieces are very flexible but they aren't just crack and peel vinyl stickers...I wouldn't do that to my Mercedes! They say it's made to match the existing wood and from what I can tell it looks pretty close...right down to the high gloss and smooth tactile feel when you run your fingers over it. My car is in the shop right at the moment so I can't tell for sure how close it matches my wood, which is the dark burl walnut. Someone rear-ended me a few weeks ago and I'm getting the rear bumper fixed. The damage looks minor...just a cosmetic ding where one of the other guy's license plate bolts dug into my bumper. But I saw one of the rear bumper support struts was bent when I looked underneath so it wasn't as minor as it seemed apparently.
Yes and yes...and I have pictures to post. I've just been thinking about what I want to say. It's a nice kit overall...but not all of it works...particularly the trim pieces for the instrument pod. But I'm glad I bought it, because the pieces that Do work really add to the beauty of the interior in my opinion.
