Clicking noise..left rear wheel.

I did a search and didn't find anything regarding this issue I am having. I notice when I pull away from a stop (slowly) there is a clicking noise coming from my left rear tire. The next time you are starting from a stop, turn off the radio and see if you hear it.

I was wondering if others have determined what it is, and if it is something that needs to be fixed. It only happens when I am between 0 and about 10 mph. If the noise I am hearing is the TPMS sensor broken off and spinning in the tire, then I would most certainly get some sort of alarm...correct?

As pointed out in the other forum, a good place to start is to look at the whole circumference of the tire for stuff stuck in the tread - rocks, glass, a nail [hope not].

Less likely, but possible, is the pot metal shield behind the brake rotor deflecting just enough to make contact with the rotor; as I say, unlikely, but has been know to happen. Just bending the shield away would solve the problem.

My vote is that there is something in the tire....

If one of the TPMS sensors had come loose, the noise would be horrific, and at high speeds, very noticeable, including vibration.

Having a similar issue and MB can't seem to figure it out. When I pull away slowly (between 0 - 5 mph) there is a squeeking noise coming from what sounds like the right rear. Almost as if the pads aren't releasing from the rotors. Has gotten worse with the warmer weather (guessing it is due to the metal expanding). MB looked at it once and told me I had a rock stuck somewhere, but it came back about a week later. Took it in again and they tried something or other, but told me that my "rotor theory" sounded logical and stated if it came back they'd replace the rotors. My fear is that it isn't going to correct the issue and what my recourse could be at that time. To be honest, the car is 3 weeks old and I'm getting to the point where I'm getting annoyed. I've purchased 4 vehicles and know these guys failry well so I know they will do everything possible, but if it can't be fixed I'm not really sure what I can do b/c I refuse to drive this car if this noise is going to continue.

I'll bounce the heat shield fix off them, but wondered if there were any TSBs out there on this one?

The dealer figured it out!

For the record, it was NOT a squeak, it was a definate RATTLE. The TPMS sensor had broken off and was shredding the inside of my tire! I took it to the dealer on the way home, and they figured it out. It's a good thing I took it in, because they said there were pieces of it embedded on the inside of the tire.

The dealer (RBM of Atlanta NORTH) was very good about it, and replaced the wheel and tire (with new sensor inside) and sent me on my way.

I got NO indication that there was anything wrong with the sensor. If you hear a clicking noise coming from any of your tires at slow speeds, I suggest you take it to your dealer and have it checked. Having a tire shredding from the inside is not a good thing...and by going to the dealer....I avoided a blowout!
