C350 or Caddy CTS

Any compare these two rides? I've taken both for a test ride and they are both awesome cars. Kind of torn -- very close in price, the benz will likely hold a better resale, but I really do like the CTS!

What are you looking for in a car? The cars to me seem very different.

my mother has a 06 cts 23000 miles, hit a bump and sounds like the front end is falling apart, constant rattles, wiring problems, this is her 4th caddy, and she said her last,IMHO its a no brainer, you can put 150000 miles on the benz, and it will still run, ride and handle like new.

Because of price similarities, I can see where there would be some cross-shopping. CTS back seat is much bigger for those that really need extra room there.

IMHO the MB is much better looking. The squarish lines of the CTS make more sense on a truck like the Escalade, but not so good on a car.

If you're image conscious, I think you'll be better off being a Benz owner. No offence to Caddy but IMO, MBz carries a better and richer image.

Yea, especiallly after watching lame Caddy commercials featuring rock of the 70's, racing on the street, going to the boys club, and having the husband buy her a passe Escalade with a big rebate.

Yes, one of the things I like about owning the Benz is that nothing came from a "lower line" parts bin, the way it does on Lexus, Audi, Accura and Caddies. An MB is its own car.

This may sound like I am full of crap, but I don't think the two should even be compared.

Benz is timeless utilitarian luxury vehicle. It is simple, elegant and precise in handling and acceleration. It is simple and elegant and understated. Inside, the car is ergonomically perfect and wraps the driver in comfort. It is an over engineered car and when you own one, you really feel it in ever aspect of day to day driving. Since you already have a Benz, I imagine you are very well aware of this.

Cadillac, is a glorified Chevy. It is designed to look too flashy. It may look nice now and may have driven well in your test drive, but in the end, it is made by GM, so you can expect ergonomics, reliability and refinement to be thrown out of the window.

In 10 years, your Benz will still be an over-engineered vehicle of timeless style and luxury. The Cadillac will most likely have many problems and the styling may change dramatically.

In the end, you know you are on a biased site, so take the advice with a grain of salt. Its maybe not a bad idea to look at non-GM cars if you are really serious about switching from Benz. Maybe BMW, Audi or Lexus, but I still love MB best of all

"Benz is timeless utilitarian luxury vehicle. It is simple, elegant and precise"

Yes, I think people who think the simple interior is cheap miss the point. No womens underwear material here! Thump the dash and you'll hurt your hand, Roll down the window and squeeze the inner and outer door panels - on the benz you can't, but the caddy flexes in and out.

"In 10 years, your Benz will still be an over-engineered vehicle of timeless style and luxury" Yup, there are 4 10-15 yr old MBs parked in my office parking lot every day.

"it is made by GM, so you can expect ergonomics, reliability, etc"

Hmmm, a bit harsh. I still own a 97 Grand Prix, which has been a pretty good car and I still quite like driving it after 11 hard Canadian winters. Now is still in daily use as my son's family car.

I did try the CTC and liked its funky exterior and its Corvette style interior. Didn't like the quality of the body work however. And these days all motors and trannies are pretty bullet proof. The real difference is the body work, and MB won hands down here.
