about the IS deals and incentives, as with bmw...this is actually because of the dropping dollar. the premium that canadians pay makes even less sense now since its basically $1 CDN to $1 US. They pay more than 5K plus on the same exact car.

in fact, all MB does is give them more options...

It doesn't make sense that Canadians pay more I agree. But all 3 makers are dealing with the same currency situation and I merely pointed out that MB hasn't advertised in months (nor changed its options) but the two others are - in the same market.

Gotta be some pressure somewhere

What made me buy the C230 over any other (especially the 323i) is the fact that It felt like a complete package. A complete car which will not remind me everyday that I should have shelled the extra money for the 328i or the 335i. This is what made me get into my first Mercedes ever. I think Mercedes has got a very good package which has the right compromise balance. To each their own.. BMW with their shi*y dealership experiences (story for another day) needs to offer much more value to get back in their showroom again.

Just my 2 cents.
I went through pretty much the same process and came to the same conclusion. Nevertheless, its based on personal preferences so everyone's mileage will vary.

The only model that MBz is aggressively advertising nowadays is the B Class with financing incentive and base price at $29,900. With the introduction of the 2008 C230 at $35,800 people will probably think twice and go for the C rather than the boxy B.
