itcrashed - I think I used up my quota for questions, but your answers have been the best description/pics of the pano roof on this forum for the new C-class.
So do you think the opening is bigger on the Pano or the standard moonroof?

Thanks.
hey, its my pleasure! i like helping others out...we're all enthusiasts after all.
but to answer your question, the opening from the inside is exactly the same as the regular sunroof. it's quite deceiving from the outside since the actual piece of glass that moves is larger than the opening.
this picture will explain what im talking about...
you will notice that the opening from the inside is significantly smaller than the pano fixture.
honestly, it has more meaning as a conversational piece than anything. front passengers get absolutely no benefit...the rear passengers get to enjoy it more with the "airy" feeling. but for $1000, it seems like a small price to pay for "the look"
I knew that the outside appearance did not show the true size of the opening. But now I know that the front opening is about the same same for both roofs.
My C300 has the regular sunroof which I do use. Since I'm a ragtop fan living in a moderate sunny climate, I actually enjoy opening up the car in good weather. Personally I would not own a sedan/coupe/SUV without some type of sunroof.
This is making me want the pano roof more. Its on the car I am negotiating about, but it wasnt a big deal to me, if they could find one without it, I was fine with that. I think now, I WANT IT. Looks pretty nice.
Its a shame the opening to the front of the cabin had to be smaller than the actualy pano glass....
Seeing the pics of the Pano roof makes me wish that I had it. My dealer didn't have any on the lot and I didn't want to wait so ordering was out of the question.
The reason I picked my car was cuz of the black roof on the red paint. I fell in love when I saw it. It's very true about the roof more a conversation piece than anything....I wouldn't have gotten my car without it though.
