The video is from the 2009 SL which is the first model to get it. The C was actually supposed to get it first but they had supplier problems getting the interface built so they changed it to the SL instead. The way you see it working on the SL is how its going to work on the C.
Are you sure that the dealer will retrofit the 2009 version to the W204? Any idea on the cost?

At this point I dont know what models will be supported as far as dealer retrofit. What I can say is that the adapter will work on any w204 C class but I do not know if it will need programming/version coding to get it to work or if it just needs to be connected.. The module is so new there are few answers until I get a module and put it into a C. Once I get one installed I will report back on what is involved.
i finally got to install my vim with back up camera. I tapped into the aux power adapter in the glove box for the power. I couldn't find a 12v ACC source from the back of the stereo. i also tested the voltage at the VIM harness and there are two wires that get 3v's and one 12v constant. I was under the impression that there would be T's on the vim harness for the back up camera power source. reinstalling the stereo with the factory ipod harness was definitely a challenge.
everything works very smoothly, the module really is well worth the money. I used to be an installer for the high end car multimedia industry and I must say this is a fantastic module, very easy to install and the casing is definitely not an afterthought. Only thing I would recommend is for some bullet style leads for the power and ground for easy connectivity between the back up camera (or other stuff) and the VIM to make it a complete plug and play unit.
I really look forward to the new ipod interface. my wife and i were utterly disappointed at the one we currently have. hopefully the new module uses the same plugs as the current module, that way i wouldn't have to remove the command center again.

How difficult was it to install the back up cam? Was there any cutting or drilling required?

it was relatively easy considering that mercedes has alreadly left a slot open for the possibility of offering the back up cam as an option in the future. I think someone with basic knowledge of installing electrical componants in the car can tackle this task.
keep in mind that i used to do custom installs for a living.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up for this thread, since it started the wheels turning for my own install. I can't say that it was an easy install, but it wasn't hard either. Then again, part of my difficulty was being ballsy enough to work on my own $$$ car. Not scared anymore.
Hey Rob I am almost ready to call and order. I have a 2008 C350 W204 with the Command system and the factory IPOD adapter. I want the rear camera,I want the IPOD screen to show on the larger screen as you mentioned and shown on the link for the SL550 on youtube...
I want the newer system and I want it to go smooth as I will do it myself. Can you tell me just as all the others here with my same setup, what do I need and how much shipped to me in Miami 33130?
How will it work exactly? Thanks.... This should clear up this thread...
There is actually a mercedes advanced media adapter that is available for the new 2008 C that functions like a real proper ipod adapter.. it will put the songs on the screen in a menu fasion and allow proper control with the jog wheel as well as radio and steering wheel buttons.
thats what you want to get.
