I took delivery of a steel grey C300 (sports, P1, multimedia, iPod kit) and took it out of town and I forgot to bring the manuals with me. Anyway, I'm fumbling around and can figure out most things.
Am I missing something or the car's navigation system seriously lacking in feature (features that are available to even the cheapest Garmin)?
I can't seem to find the listing of restaurants/hotels near me, for example. Also, it doesn't announce tell you the street name to which to turn, instead it tells you to turn in so many meters (I'm pretty bad at gauging distances). Anothing thing, is there a way to put a name to a particular saved address (e.g., "Blindpilot's Favorite Brothel" instead of the address. LOL)?
i don't know if you expect the car to read out the name of the street when directing you, but i think no navigation does that.
I haven't heard of many OEM navigations that read out street names either. I think Lexus does it, but I'm not sure. The LS430 I tested it in wasn't moving so it couldn't tell me!

honda/acura and infiniti cars have text to speech. which means they announce the actual street name. many hand helds can do the same now as well. it is just unfortunate the c-class can't. perhaps the next software update?
What i don't like about the nav is that the POI database isn't complete. It doesn't have store information. For instance, if i'm looking for the nearest Home Depot, you won't find it in the database. It will find the nearest mall, but not the actual stores. I have to whip out my blackberry, go to google maps, find the store that i'm looking for and type that address into my navi. The navi should do this for me.
I just use my TeleAid concierge service. They look it up whatever I want then send the detailed map to my navi. All I do is push the button and talk. A lifetime of safety security and convenience for mere $650.00 option.
Perhaps you should have made a more responsible purchase and researched the parameters of the MB Navi PRIOR to purchase. It certainly would have negated your gripe. Of course you could always buy an aftermarket and use it too.

Good luck.
you are absolutely right that a prior research into the nav system would have eliminated my disappointment, however, this wasn't an option as this was a surprised birthday gift from my wife.
