This was kinda discussed under another thread. Aboout 5,500 cars affected. Which I guess is pretty much the first few months shipment? I haven't received a letter yet, not sure if I'm safe or they're just slow with paperwork. I'm guess the latter since the car was already in inventory (suggesting it was from an early shipment).
Also, there is talk of a second recall involving the grill, but this may be a hoax. One thing for sure, there is no second recall listed at the NHTSA website, only the first one you mentioned, so the so-called grill recall is likely a hoax.
Anyway, perhaps something as impt. as recalls should get their own thread and sticky at the top? moderators?
Recalls are generally safety-oriented. If there was indeed a recall on the grill, the dealer is the only one who would know. On the other hand, you can call MB direct at their toll free number, they will definitely know.
A recall for a grill would never be justified, unless it was a safety hazard.
Insufficient bling maybe.
