Smile WHICH GAS GRADE TO USE FOR c300??

Hi, I just purchased a c300. It says to use premium gas 91. At the gas station where I usually go, there is mid grade 89 and premium 93. The dealer says I can mix the two grades of gas. Should I do that or just always use the Premium 93 gas or is that not good to do? Thanks!

I would suggest that you use the premium 93 grade. It is better and more convenient than having to mix two types of gasoline. I always use the highest octane gas(which is 92) for mine.

Did the dealer really say that? Mechanic or Sales Rep? Has anyone mixed grades of gas before?

Unless you do extreme driving such as towing, high-altitudes, etc., you can get by on regular. Of course, you didn't buy a MB because you're cheap enough to actually do that, right?

Some places offer 91. More than that is a waste, but won't hurt unless maybe you get into non-standard fuels. Less than that, the engine will compensate and probably lose 2 or 3 hp that you won't notice. Mixing grades is fine, again, the car will determine what concoction you fed it and react appropriately.

If you decide you want a few more horses and you don't need the warranty, you can probably have the engine's computer reprogrammed for use with 93 or 94 octane ONLY.

If it says use 91, use 91 or higher. Its not a lawnmower, its a $40K car.

well, if you read the manual, and your car happens to be one that can use either premium OR E85, than you should use one or the other...the manual specifically says that you should NOT mix these 2 types, and you should only "switch" between the 2 when your tank is less than 1/2 full..I plan on trying E85 when the tank gets down, but, it also says do NOT use E85 when the temperature is below 14 degrees F, which, here in chicago land will be pretty soon!
So, I would say whatever fuel you use, if you change grades, wait until your take is less than 1/2 full..

E85 will give you more power and fewer miles to the gallon, but you should triple-check to be certain your particular car is compatible with it as not all 2008 C-classes are.

Yes, on the inside of my gas filler door, it tells me that I can use E85 in this car..
As far as mixing premium with mid-grade, I am not sure that is such a good idea; what kind of results have you had while doing that, Tri-Star? Any rough idle or hesitation?
How many miles on your car?
