I ordered a new C350 for Jan delivery and dealer did not set the price due to an upcoming price drop. Didn't say exactly how much but said one is likely.
Just thought I'd let you guys know before you go out and purchase one in Canada.

Hey,
Thanks for the post. I'm thinking of purchasing a C300 AWD next month and am glad they will be lowering prices soon because of the high dollar. I was wondering though how come it will take all the way until January for you to receive yours? Is 3 months the regular waiting time for all orders or only the 350's?
I have put a deposit on a C300 4matic w/MM since augest and still waiting... Dealer said late oct but now mid nov seems more like it. I would love to get the C350 instead if they drop the price and get that pano roof I wanted. On the other hand I am happy juss to be gettin the car after the long wait
On the way home today, I stopped in to see what the C350 looked like in person. If this price drop does happen, that would be good news. I was thinking to get it by the end of winter. Dealer had no brochures either as they had a European option printed by mistake so they were waiting for new brochures to arrive.
There is no official words from MB that the price is going to drop. $3000 drop seems to be a little bit unrealistic. It could be the sales person wants to get a deal badly so he said such things. However, it is hard to forecast what is going to happen in the future given the dollar value right now.
As far as for importing, a buddy of mine actually sent a email to one of the brokers, and the reply was negative. Apparently MB has their own process of importing vehicles, and the initial cost for the conversions would be starting from $6500, and you do need to pay the broker $1650 for the service fee and possibly transportation cost. The waiting time for the dealer to do the conversion is about 10 days.
As far as I know, Canadian dealers are pushing the conversion work back because they are bought in the states, and also when it comes to re-sale value, the MB dealers in Canada most likely not going to take the trade despite the condition of the vehicle.
It's always a good topic to discuss and think about
It was brought to my attention by the dealer that no specific price drop AMOUNT was mentioned. As I do not recall the exact semantics of the conversation, I have edited my initial post to remove the price drop amount.
