I have a Blackberry 8830 and was able to transfer the entire address book to the C-300.
On the Blackberry Bluetooth options screen you have to ensure you have set
- Address Book Transfer > All Entries
Can you tell what is the model number of your bluetooth device?
No real problems with my Blackberry 8800 and my new C-Class Break with APS 50 GPS DVD soundsystem.
I opened the car for external authorization, made my BB find the car's bluetooth device, put in a key on both the car and the BB and voila they were paired.
Each time I enable bluetooth on my BB the car is connected to it within less than a minute.
I had an issue with the phone book synchronization as it didn't work the way i wanted. I enabled the car to receive vcards and the adress book had to send everything over but seen the size of the phone book (roughly 1300 Outlook contacts with each of them multiple numbrs) I had to reset the car system it to factory defaults because at 954 contacts the memory was full. There also was no easy way to wipe the phone book from within the car system. I then assigned the contacts i wanted to have in the car a "Personal" or other category and chose that adress book category to be transferred instead of the full address book. Result: sufficient spare room in phone book contacts and only the ones i really need are in there.
I also set the transmission volume to +1 (recommended by MB website) and the receiving volume to +/-0 (also recommended by MB website) to have optimal signal and sound quality.
I do find it weird that when i start a call from within the car system itself, that it doesn't show which person i'm calling during the call, also not when i start a call from my Blackberry. It however does list the caller's name when a person calls me. I guess these are still a few software quirks that need to be resolved or some hidden option for me.
For now I'm happy. The Bluetooth connection has been very stable and the quality is excellent.
Ow and by the way, a very nice car too! Coming from a Renault Laguna from 5 years old I guess these cars are not comparable. ;-)
The car is a new black C-Class Break Avantgarde CDI220 with an automatic transmission (I'm in a wheelchair), Bi-Xenons, APS 50 + GPS DVD, automatic/remote boot opening and a few other things. The best thing is that this is a company car and that I have to pay hardly anything for it, not even the petrol/diesel that it uses. I love the luxuary drive and feel in the car itself but as i already said, this car cannot be compared to my previous one. ;-)
since this thread is back on the top, i'll ask this...
has anyone successfully sent the address book with a blackberry 8700? the hangup seems to be the fact that there is no "send address book to bluetooth device" option on the 8700, although there is on the curve and several other phones. ideas?
Someone please tell me why in a manual as thick as a Bible MB couldn't explain the reverse authentication trick?
Agree. Thanks for this link. My dealer set up the Blue Tooth connection the day of purchase. My BlackBerry Curve had to be "wiped" because of other problems and I lost by connection to my C63. I was losing my mind trying to do it myself refering only to the BlackBerry and MB manuals. Made it worse on myself by reseting Command--starting from scratch to try to make it work. Good to go now , happy!
my blackberry 8830[sprint] never worked in my C. My Curve 8330 works fine. {shrug} never an issue. I paired from the car to the phone too. Some times with BB its good to pull the battery , 10 seconds later reinsert. The OS on all pda/smart phones needs a good reboot now and again
