I have been shopping in the NY/CT area suburbs to get a price on a 300 AWD Sport, P2 and Multimedia and ipod integration. I got 1 quote of $43,700 including taxes. w/o taxes 40,000. I am going tomorrow to another 2 dealers in my area to compare. (supposedly this is the bottom line price they cannot go any lower) What do you guys think?
I went to 3 dealers so far in N.Y. (Westchester) and CT (Greenwich) Greenwich was too high N.Y. matched each other, AWD, P2 package, Multimedia Package, iPod kit.
$41K B4taxes, Free 2 years of service, Pick up and delivery of car being serviced. Monday I will get a final quote in Westchester to see if anything has changed. I understand its a new model, car and needs to be ordered etc. they take 1G off of MSRP but how about taking some cash off of the accessories/packages? They are making plenty of profit as it is.
You should check the what the invoice price on your car is instead of just assuming the dealer is making a huge profit.
Sometimes new models have very slim margins in order to get them out onto the streets. You need to check the invoice and then you can know for sure if you are getting good prices or not.
Is the 4matic 5-speed or 7-speed auto? The dealer said it's a 5 but I haven't been able to confirm it online. I drove one Saturday but forgot to check.
Dealer margins are very slim on the C-Class. I don't know where you come up with discounting the packages and accessories?? Maybe I have just had to many people demand extremely wild off the wall things without having a full understanding of pricing.
On NEW Mercedes-Benz most dealers have 6-7% margins in their new cars. If you look in the past, any new model year vehicle has always sold for sticker if not more.
Although the C-Class is not neccessarily a "Commodity" vehicle, it is still in high demand, and we are not selling them for MORE than sticker. How complacent was BMW with the release of their 335? How complacent are other dealers with their newly released model changes.
All I am saying is Mercedes-Benz is second to none when it comes to any other vehicle on the road today. Dealers, especially mine, are going to do what they can to earn your business... However you also have to take into consideration that you ARE buying the best, most recognized vehicle on the road and is it fair to say that RETAIL dealers are in the business to turn a profit? We have multi-million dollar facilities that we have to pay for, and staff to pay... It's a business, just like the company you own or work for. For those who sell a product or service themselves I am sure you can understand.
The question I can not help but wonder.... If you can afford to own one of the finest, safest and refined automobiles on the road... Why would you not buy a Mercedes-Benz?
