So i am driving down the street and a WS6 Trans Am with cam, headers, exhaust and intake pulls up next to me and i am MMOB when i hear him down shift so im like OH this guy wants to play. so i downshift to get ready and we both take off. i beat him by like half a car i think, we only went from 25 to like 70 i believe. just a short quick run. well after that he wants to do it again so i am like ok. so we go and when i shift into 2nd my check engine light comes on and my car is misfiring and sounds like i have a huge ass exhaust leak when i step on the gas. so i pull off the road and turn the car off and let it sit cause to my knowledge my car was in limp mode and i had to let it reset itself. i take the engine covers off and notice my #5 coil pack was loose so i attached it back nice and firm, turned the car back on and everything was fine. i took the car to autozone to run a scan for the code and it popped up as a #5 misfire. So anyways my check engine light is still on but i dont have any problems with the car. i was wondering if i should go ahead and just change out the plugs wires and coil packs or just change #5. Also my car has 59,000 miles and ever since i have bought the car it has shaken just a little bit has if i were camin but not as violent.
Autozone will also clear the code for free, and I would suggest buying an OBD-II scanner down the road as it could save you a ton of money, and they are not very expensive.
ok cool. I will look into the OBD-II scanner. I tried autozone and they gave me the code and told me what the problem was but when i asked them to clear it and take the check engine light off they said they werent allowed to do that. i will take it to a different autozone.
Well i went to a different autozone and the guy couldnt get the check engine light off LOL guess i will have to pay the $99 at the dealership or find another place that CAN do it.
lol!!! well the check engine light is off. i guess the guy at autozone did something right. the light didnt go off at first but later on i noticed it wasnt on LOL!!!
