c55 amg reliability

Hi, I'm in the market for a 2005 c55 amg, around 45k miles... Are these cars reliable? I heard that getting a Mercedes repaired costs a lot of money, but I dont really know how bad it would be. Can any one help me with your previous experience? If its going to be 700-1000 dollars every other month, I may as well steer away from these cars but I really like the car overall.

Thanks for helping...

I purchased a c55 w/45,000 mi. back in December. Fantastic car so far. I purchased a four year A & B service contract for $1400.00. The car still has the remainder of the factory warranty until April. Extended aftermarket warranty is in the $4000.00 area from what I have seen and there are some posts on this site covering the good and bad points involved. All cars are expensive to repair these days, so I guess it comes to piece of mind. We have a 2004 A6 S/line w/2.7 twin turbo which is covered under fact. extended warranty to 100,000 mi. and has already paid for itself in repair orders. I am still on the fence but will decide before April.

I purchased my 2005 C55 AMG with 100, 468 miles a couple weeks ago. Orig purchaser traded it in for a new AMG model, dealer had all service records and not much other than perv. maintenance was ever done. I think it will be fine, engine is stout, tranny is put in cars with much more torque, so it must be up to the task.

Congrats maddydaddy on the new car. I also picked up an 05 C55 from my local dealer !
He gave me good trade value on my E430 and I pulled the trigger on the deal.
You must have got a great deal on your car!
Any pics?

Just picked up my 2006 w/35K miles two weeks ago Saturday. The previous owner must have been in love with the car as it is in pristine condition. Traded in a 2008 C 350 mainly b/c I wanted more power and have always wanted an AMG, but if you ask my wife she'll tell you that I have a car problem. Perception is reality I guess.

Go out and buy some of that clear thick plastic film that sticks to your foglights so a rock won't shatter yer foglights. AMG foglights are expensive...

I purchased my 05 C55 in September. Absolutely love the car... It had 24k miles on it when I got it. Has the 100k mile warranty... Life is good!
