Hello, my 2002 C32 has about 105K miles and recently I noticed a faint high pitched sound coming from the rear if the car. The only major mechanical part that is back there is the fuel pump, so with me driving about 70 miles a day, I am a bit worried. I called my parts supplier yesterday and he quoted me $275 for the left and $960 for the right (apparently Mercedes thought that one pump could not feed the appetite of the beast and the right is a dealer item). Has anyone had to change their fuel pump, and if so what signs did it give when it was going, and which one did you change?

Fuel pumps normally sound like that, though they can get louder as they age or get run dry a time or two. I wouldn't change it unless it gets really loud or if you experience any other symptom of fuel starvation.
