Royal Purple vs Mobile and others.....

So I am sure this topic has been beaten to death buttttttttt i have some questions that you members could shine some light on.

I am considering an OIL brand change....YES i know MB wants us to use MOBIL 1 0w40 for our AMG's.. However I have heard that MOBIL has changed their formula that makes it easier on the environment, thus however losing a lot of its integrity to protect our AMG engines like the original did.

Is this true and whats up with this??

Other oils I am thinking of using are:

Liquid Moly high tech 5W40..
and really considering Royal Purple 5w40 european formula. Has anyone had any horror stories with ROYAL. ANy engine siezures etc... I do understand Royal does not meet MB standards but so many others are using this stuff including BMW's.. I somtimes think MB has a deal with Mobile and vise versa to keep buisness within themselves.

This test even though its old, is very interesting..........

and ofcourse finally the MB list:

The MB oils list is PURE politics, its all about $$ sense. BMW has a deal with castrol, MB with Mobil1, thats ALL it means. Mobil1 is NOT that great, infact I used 0w-30 and 0w-40 on my M3 and it absolutely hated it, the lifters ticked like a time bomb, it was a terribly thin oil that poured thinner than water. I even used their trannyoil and was very disappointed. I then tried Redline among others and it was a slight improvement.

The only oil to have made any difference worth mentioning was Royal Purple. 5w-40 is the best option for MB for most environments. Their tranny oils are amazing and did wonders on my stick, never tried the auto tranny fluid but their SyncroMax is unreal and performed above and beyond anything else on the market. Been using it for 3 years+, won't let anything else into my cars, its the ONLY oil I trust.
