alloy rim bolts question...

I was just at the mbworld w203 board and this guy popped a question regarding the shape of bolt heads, and kinda got me worried.

They said that MB alloy bolts are bullet-headed while aftermarket ones tend to be funnel-shaped. The result is that aftermarket ones may not seat properly on the rim.

So I'm attaching a pic of my aftermarket bolts (I bought knockoff 16" C7 rims).. sorry it's blurry, but my camera doesnt take macropics...

what do you guys think? TIA

Hmm...

In the owner's manual, it does specifically say to use the MB OEM bolts that have the MB star on them. Therefore for safety reasons, since MB has tested and approved their own, I think that I would be inclined to stay with the factory lug bolts.

What wheels are you using?
If MB wheels, I'd ditch those bolts for sure, and reinstate the MB ones - and quickly!

If aftermarket wheels, check with the manufacturer how the lugs have been machined.

They're replica Evolution (C7) rims but they're 16" versions. I gotta check the rims later... just look at it by screwing in the bolts and see if it sits properly, right?

They're replica Evolution (C7) rims but they're 16" versions. I gotta check them rims later in the basement... just look at it by screwing in a bolt by hand (unmounted) and see if it sits properly, right?
