Motorola phone

Does anybody know if there is a cheaper way (besides the $599 and $1000 install) to get a motorola phone to work with the COMAND system in a C320 ?
$1600 for a phone is a bit much.
Re: Motorola phone

Nope. the handset is $575. The rest is for the baseset. Installation isn't $1000. I think it's a couple of hours. That's the only phone that integrates with all the MB telematics and uses all the antennas on the car when plugged in.
We had an interesting case recently. A E320 owner was cussing the car, saying it was dying unexpectedly and running badly. He left it here 3 times, and we could find nothing wrong.
But each time he took the handset to his aftermarket phone, installed by Fly-By-Night Audio, with him.
The next time he was quite angry. 'Lemon law' were his most frequent words. The district service rep was driving with him in an effort to make the car malfunction so we could fix it. The aftermaket phone rang--and the car died.

Re: Motorola phone

MB could sell a lot more phone options if they offered better compatibility with various brands/standards. Bluetooth seems to be a must nowadays (which makes it universally compatible, no matter what market it's sold at). I would have purchased the phone option if a GSM phone was offered in the US.
