Hi guys, i'm planning to drop my C-240, what do you guys think about H&R? Can I just get the springs or do I need the shocks too. What about the allignment, I heard that you need to get some kind of a special kit to fix the 'negative camber'. Where should i get them and how much are they gonna cost. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx...
The H&R sport spring should be sufficient with the stock shocks...
The famous tool are the alignment bolts. They aren't installed in the factory but when you first bought the car, there is a warranty on alignment where the dealer installs it for free one time.

Have your car lowered and bring it to the dealer for the free alignment.

I don't know why they don't just install them from the factory. Guess it's another money making scheme.
I wanted the car lowered for looks, not performance (afterall, it is a C-240, not C-320), and I drive 25,000+ miles a year, 3/4 of that on freeways, so I wanted a comfortable ride. Based on info found through many sources, I chose the Eibach springs over the H & R (too stiff). On smooth pavement, the ride is equivalent to factory, but it gets skitterish on bad pavement. When driving harder through twisties, it handles much better than stock. The shop that lowered it ($400 parts and labor) aligned it and their computer printout showed no caster, camber, toe-in problems (all within specs). Before lowering the car, I took it back to the dealer for many little problems, an alignment among them. I don't know if they changed the bolts the other person is refering to at that time.
KEITH,
I HAVE THE H&R'S. THEY ARE FIRMER THAN THE PRO-KIT'S, AND LOWER THE CAR MORE THAN THE EIBACH SPRINGS. I'M AN EIBACH PERSON. ALL OF MY PREVIOUS SETUPS HAVE BEEN WITH THE PRO-KIT AS MY SPRING OF CHOICE, BUT MOST MERCEDES OWNER PREFER THE H&R, SO I GAVE THEM A TRY. I'M GOING TO BUY EIBACHS AND SEE WHICH ONES SUIT MY TASTES, AND SELL THE LOSER. NO PROBLEMS WITH ALIGNMENT [IN SPEC], THE C SEEMS TO SKITTER REGARDLESS OF SETUP.

ROB

http://forums.mbnz.org/forums/W203/vthread.asp?messid=2215
http://www.sendpix.com/albums/010925/200326000000c03c86643b479d2d64/
