New C has no side markers?

Hi, I just wanted to ask a quick question on this board. I was looking at my friends new C320 about a week ago when I noticed there are no clear/definite side markers on it. To my knowledge, they are required in Germany. They are also found on other Mercedes Benz vehicles. Were the side markers just left off on the US spec models or are the turn signals in the exterior rear view mirrors/outer edge of the front bumper considered sufficient?

The older models had the turn signal on the fender but MB moved them to the side mirrors on the newer models
