Multiple codes stored for misfiring #6 - help?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Car is a 2002 C240.

Symptoms now - clear the codes and shut off CEL, and engine runs great. Or, do not clear the codes and after a couple of starts CEL is still lit but runs great. Sometimes the CEL will clear itself after a number starts.

If I stomp the gas peddle, runs slightly to heavily rough, sometimes not like I've completely lost #6 (see below), but certainly not firing all the time, all the way to it's been turned off completely.

Or, if I jump on the highway and drive conservatively, and with the CEL cleared, I can drive 15-20 miles, but then CEL lights and I do feel a miss at that point, but drives well, and still get 26-28mpg.

Or, city driving after clearing the codes or the automatic reset ?) it does, after a few stop lights, I get slight vibration, CEL lights up, and then tends to become a heavier vibration with each subsequent stop. Almost like a bad EGR? No EGR codes, and no other cylinder misfires?

Using a Launch GDS as the diagnostic tool, here's what the print out shows.
P2050 - Misfiring damages TWC (see current valid STIP) (P0300)
P2054 - Misfiring of Cylinder 6, damages TWC (see current valid STIP) (P0306)
P2043 - Misfiring (See current valid STIP) (P0300)
P2047 - Misfiring of Cylinder 6 (See current valid STIP) (P0306)

I've changed coil packs, changed wires, changed plugs on #6. It's all new within the last 2 weeks.

About 6 months ago, I replaced the MAF, then found the MAF gasket and the elbow that connects it to the TB had a bad gasket, so replaced those. Also replaced the vacuum hoses in the area. Those fixed the rough running at idle up until a couple of weeks ago when my new problems started.

Any ideas? Could this be caused by a bad injector, and if it was bad injector, shouldn't I get a code for that?

Any ideas / help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Fred

According to my DTC table, that's cylinder 2, not 6:

Rodney, do you have the same pdf for a C240, or is it the same?
WDBRF61J72F203448

If the same, I'll take one new item from #6 at a time a swap with #2.
That should tell me what's bad.

This am, ran fine, no code, smooth idle.

Thanks!
You've helped me out a few times - I'll probably never be in Alabama, but if I do, I'm looking you up and buying you dinner!

Thanks!

Yes, the C320 and C240 engines are the same "ME" (i.e. ECU) versions so the DTCs will be the same. In fact, the two engines are identical in every way except the C240 uses a slightly less powerful shorter-stroked 2.6L version of the C320's 3.2L

So I was going to move things around between 6 and 2, but decided to simply buy 2 new coils, 4 new wires, 4 new spark plugs.

No change.

Same codes come back after I clear them, but not right away. If I mash the pedal I'll get a cel and a slight miss.

If I get on the highway, enter nice and easy, drive like I am driving a Pius in the right lane, after about 20 minutes (twice now) I feel a slight stumble and the cel lights.
The thing is, it's still get great fuel mileage.

I'm going to apply smoke this next week to see if I have any vacuum leaks. I did spray carb cleaner while the engine was running on the various vacuum hoses this past weekend, but no change in rpm.

Good news is I got real good at changing coils and plugs. That 17mm offset wrench really does the truck on the wires. I had bought one and forgot all about. After pulling and yanking on the first one, I remembered the wrench. Ez-peezee.

Thanks!

Maybe it's a dirty or clogged fuel injector.

That's what I am thinking.
I've never changed an injector, can somebody point me to the instructions to do so?
Is it wise to just do them all at once?

The injectors are easy to remove - just disconnect the fuel line to the fuel rail, remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail, remove the bolts holding it all to the manifold (10Nm torque) and they all lift off.
