At the end of a long motorway journey, I got to use the brakes on my C320 and just before the car stopped it gave the ABS rattle and the light came on. I had ABS problems on my previous car (an SLK) so I went through the procedure of cleaning contacts and replacing the stop lamp switch to no avail.
I then shelled out on an iCarsoft i980 scanner which reported:
C1103 L6/1 left front speed sensor loose contact
I replaced this sensor but the fault is still there.
I notice from other posts that people are confused over the observers position with this scanner - I phoned them up and they confirm that it is from the viewpoint sitting in the drivers seat!
The BAS system also reported C1025-004, which is the stop lamp switch fault, but this is not true because in the realtime data I can see the values switching from off to on as I work the brake pedal.
I am wondering if there is some reset process I am missing out, or is someone telling fibs?

The W203 does not have a brake pedal sensor like older models. It's now integrated into the ESP system. That error may just be an anomaly. In SDS, it says for that error, check the front SAM for other errors.
I continued replacing bits by doing the wheel bearing and checking the electrical circuit right through to the control box... still no fix. I eventually swallowed my pride and went to my local Unofficial Merc garage and their scanner said it was the rear right, not front left! I handed over my £30 for the diagnosis and bought the bit and it is now fixed.
I have emailed iCarsoft for their thoughts and they have responded by asking for my VIN and a video of me using the scanner (weird?). I have sent these two items to them and look forward to the next chapter.
That code (C1103 L6/1) is definitely indicated as the left front. I assume your shop scanned and came up with something like C1133 L6/4 (or another code with an "L6/4" suffix). Here's the full list if ESP DTC's from SDS:
I would be very interested to hear the response from iCarsoft. If they are going to have buggy code like this and not stand behind it (i.e. admit the problem and send a software patch), then I will stop recommending the product.
