After following instructions and advice on here I replaced the Conductor Plate in the transmission 5 speed 722.6 box (a local gearbox specialist read the codes after it was going into limp mode and jumping into gears and discovered it was the speed sensor. I was told the Conductor Plate would need changing) . All went well, topped up with Mercedes ATF using what came out as a guide. But nearing 3.5ltrs it began to overflow and poured back up out the dipstick hole where I had filled it. My car didn't have a cap and red locking pin, instead it has a hose going to a dome shaped pump near the front of the car.??
I went to start the car and it won't turn over. Starter engages and that's it. Lights dim on dash. No warning messages, no fault codes. It's as if the motor has seized. Battery is new and started fine before. Car ran fine before.
Someone mentioned "Hydraulic lock"??

Not sure if this is a known problem or I've done something I shouldn't have.?

Appreciate any suggestions

I am guessing you poured transmission fluid into something besides the transmission dip tube. It is at the right (USA Passenger) side, rear of the engine, almost against the firewall. Both the transmission fluid and engine oil dip tubes are right there next to each other. The transmission dip tube sill be slightly lower, and has an oblong shaped black cap. The engine oil dip tube is sightly higher and should have a red, yellow, or black round cap on it that has a finger grip to pull it off. As Pinkster said - post a pic of where you poured that fluid!

Sounds like you poured transmission fluid into the oil dipstick hole :eek

With almost nine quarts in the crankcase, maybe it did cause hydraulic lock. Not really sure if that possible from the bottom side of the engine.

FYI: The transmission dipstick cap will have a black locking key if it has never been serviced. As Rodney stated, it will be oblong (keyhole) shaped.
